The man convicted for fatally stabbing another man at Chapel Hill Mall last year was given a mandatory life sentence Tuesday.
Deandre Baskerville, 29, was sentenced to life in prison for stabbing Terrance Rogers to death in August 2015.
He will be eligible for parole after 15 years.
Baskerville was found guilty in February of murder, felonious assault and carrying a concealed weapon.
On Aug. 19, 2015, Rogers, 35, was shopping at Chapel Hill Mall with his fiance and two kids. Rogers and Baskerville got into an argument inside the mall. The two men continued to argue outside where Baskerville stabbed Rogers in the neck . Rogers stumbled back inside the mall where he eventually died. Baskerville escaped and was captured in West Virginia on Sept. 23, 2015 by United States Marshals.
