The 26-year-old woman stated her baby’s father, 27-year-old Omar Ali, hit her in the face, choked her and threatened to kill her, according to police.

The victim ran down the street to a different business and called police.

When they arrived, officers said she had visible injuries and signed for domestic violence charges against Ali.

Officers attempted to make contact with Ali at The Hookah House and said he refused to answer the door or speak with them.

Akron’s Narcotic Unit had been investigating Ali’s business in connection with drugs in the area and executed a search warrant at about 8 p.m. on Monday.

When officers knocked down the front door, they ordered Ali to come out with his hands up, according to police.

Officers also said they found a gun inside The Hookah House.

Ali has been charged with felony drug abuse, misdemeanor drug abuse, having weapons under disability, domestic violence, domestic violence menacing and assault.
