Police investigating homicide of 59-year-old man found shot in Akron home

AKRON, Ohio — A 59-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday night in Akron's Southeast Side.

According to Akron police, at around 8:30 p.m., officers responded to the 800 block of 5th Avenue for a report of a possible shooting.

Police found the victim inside a home and said the man had sustained a gunshot wound to the torso. He was taken to Akron City Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as Michael W. Anderson, from Akron, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

The matter remains under investigation.
