The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating an attempted theft of an ATM at an Akron BMV Friday morning.

According to Troopers the suspect or suspects backed into the glass front of the BMV at 2420 Wedgewood Drive around 3 a.m. with a Dodge pickup truck.

The driver hit the building with enough force that the ATM became stuck under the truck in the back of the lobby area of the BMV.

Troopers said that skid marks inside the BMV made it appear that the driver attempted to get the truck off the ATM before leaving the truck inside.

Akron police responded first to the location but the suspect or suspects had already left the area.

Troopers said there is video from area businesses and from inside the BMV but they have yet to access to all of the video and haven't released any suspect descriptions.
