AKRON, Ohio - A hookup arranged on a dating website went terribly wrong for an Elyria woman after she was choked and robbed after arriving for her date in Akron.
The incident happened around 2 a.m. on Jan. 11, police said.
According to authorities, the 26-year-old woman met a man on a dating website and arranged to meet him at a home on the 600 block of Schiller Avenue on Akron's southside.
When the woman arrived, the man came out from behind the home and asked her to walk with him down the driveway. A moment later, the man grabbed the woman, choked her, and then demanded her phone, wallet and car keys.
The suspect used the woman's keys to search her car and then ran off through a nearby backyard.
Police said the woman was not harmed in the incident.
No arrests have been made. Police did not specify what dating website the woman used.
