CLEVELAND — One person is dead and eight others were taken to the hospital following a shooting and fire at a home on Cleveland’s West Side early Saturday morning.

Crews responded to the 2100 block of West 95th Street just after 3 a.m. and found a multi-unit home with flames pouring out, according to a Cleveland Fire Department official.

The layout of the home, which was divided up into apartments, created some difficulty in putting out the fire.

Twitter user @shockingguy streamed firefighters working the scene.

A 51-year-old man was found in the downstairs unit unconscious, according authorities. He was transported to MetroHealth Medical center and later pronounced dead. A Cleveland Fire Department official said the man had been shot in the head.

The individuals from the upstairs unit—an 18-year-old male, 13-year-old female, 20-year-old male, 16-year-old female, 17-year-old female, 41-year-old female, 40-year-old male and a 9-month-old female were transported to MetroHealth Medical Center, treated for smoke inhalation and released, authorities said.

The fire has been listed as suspected arson. The exact cause is unknown, but a $5,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the individual responsible for setting the fire.

The incident is being investigated by police detectives and the fire officials.
