A Cleveland Heights beauty supply store owner is in shock after $15,000 worth of hair weaves were stolen during a targeted break-in.

It happened around 4 a.m. Tuesday, when thieves smashed in the front door of the Model Beauty Supply store on Mayfield Rd., swiped dozens of packs of top-shelf Brazilian and Indian Remy human hair and took off through the back door.

Owner Bruno Khalil has owned the shop for six years, covered from floor to ceiling with wigs, weaves and hair extensions in all shapes and sizes.

He said he has never dealt with a loss quite like this, adding that the thieves took only the most expensive brands he carries.

"They put it on Instagram, Facebook, try to resell it," Khalil said. "Everybody is selling hair."

And the hair weave thefts are not just happening in Northeast Ohio -- they're happening all over the country and have been for the last several years.

Khalil said the hair extensions are sold on the streets, out of trunks, and in parking lots.

Cleveland Heights Police are investigating, but have no suspects at this point.
