CLEVELAND — A 21-year-old man from Parma was shot in Cleveland’s Glenville neighborhood on Thursday night and died while on the way to the hospital, according to a spokesperson for the Cleveland Police Department.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m., officers were patrolling the area of East Boulevard and Superior Avenue when they came upon a crash.

A man was performing CPR on the shooting victim, later identified by the medical examiner as Montreece L. Spain, 21, of Parma, who had multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers administered first aid until EMS arrived on the scene and pronounced him dead.

Officers later learned the victim was shot on the 10000 block of Elk Avenue. A friend of Spain had put him in a vehicle and was attempting to transport him to the hospital when he drove through a red light and struck another vehicle near East Boulevard.

Police said no arrests have been made. The homicide remains under investigation.
