An arson investigation is underway on West 44th Street after an early morning fire that killed a family dog and left a home destroyed.
The fire broke out on the front porch area just after 12:15 a.m. Wednesday and quickly engulfed the home.
The woman who lives in the home was there during the fire but her two dogs were inside. One of the dogs was treated by Cleveland firefighters at the scene but later died.
A family member told News 5 that the arson investigators told him it appeared someone used an accelerant on the front porch to set the fire.
The fire was so intense that it damaged two neighboring homes.
