Authorities release cause of death for missing woman who was found in garbage can

A woman whose body was discovered in a garbage can last week died from a gunshot wound to the head and suffered apparent stab wounds to her torso, according to new information released by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.

The body was identified as 31-year-old Miriam Johnson, a Cleveland Heights woman who was reported missing in early March by her family.

Johnson was found dead inside a garbage can inside a residence on the 7300 block of Chamberlain Avenue on the city's east side. The residence is several blocks northeast of Woodland Cemetery and west of Fairfax Park.

Police said there are no suspects at this time.

The case has been turned over to the Cleveland Heights Police Department.
