A Cleveland mother is facing aggravated arson charges for allegedly turning on natural gas and leaving her two children inside an apartment alone, while there was an open flame on the stove.

It happened around 1 p.m. May 3 on Woodland Avenue.

Police say Shante Davis turned on three stove burners, leaving the left rear burner with an open flame.

She then reportedly told the children's father that she left the kids in the apartment and turned on the natural gas.

Davis was arraigned in court Friday.

Cuyahoga County Family Services says they are investigating the case.
