Retired school teacher Ada Martin just got home from church Sunday morning in her 2008 silver Buick Enclave.

The 67-year-old saw a man approaching her and tried to drive away from her Milverton Avenue home but things took a terrifying turn.

"He saw my hand go toward the ignition, he said 'no, no, no, no.  I don’t want to have to kill you, and I will.' So he pulled his gun out to let me know he was prepared,” Martin told News 5.

The man got in the SUV and sped away. Martin said she could only think of one thing when the gun was pointed at her face.

“I was just praying, I was just praying, I couldn’t think about anything except pray, pray, pray," Martin said.

Martin’s daughter was on the phone with her mother talking about Mother’s Day plans, when she heard the carjacking happening and panicked.

“My mother’s phone dropped in her truck, I could still hear the guy talking. So when he first took the truck, I hear him saying 'I got it, meet me at my mom's house,'” said Cindy Corbin.

Just a few miles away and a few hours earlier, 93-year-old Evelyn Davis was carjacked on Hathaway Avenue as she was about to pick up a friend for church.

The person who took her car struck her with her Acura, knocking her to the ground as he drove away.

Cleveland police said they are looking at the possibility both crimes are related.   Family members believe the crimes are connected but are thankful no one was killed.

“We can replace the SUV, but we can’t replace my mother,” Corbin said.
