CLEVELAND, Ohio — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened at a Cleveland gas station just a day after another man was shot and killed near the same location.

The shooting happened Friday around 11:39 p.m. in the 4000 block of East 131st Street.

According to authorities, officers responded to the location after receiving reports of shots fired in the area.

When officers arrived, they found a 31-year-old man on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Police administered first aid until EMS arrived and he was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

The victim was later identified as Michael Stewart, of Maple Heights, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim pulled out a gun in the parking lot of the gas station and fired a shot into the air. He then got into a fight with an unknown individual who also pulled out a gun and shot the victim multiple times, authorities said.

The shooter than ran off and was picked up nearby by another person driving what appeared to be a white Nissan Altima, police said.

No arrests have been made.

On Thursday, a 26-year-old man was shot and killed in the same parking lot. According to police, the victim was allegedly involved in a fight with the shooter earlier in the day.

The shooter in that incident remains on the loose. Authorities said the shooter fled in a what appeared to be a white Buick LaSabre.

The shootings remain under investigation.
