CLEVELAND — A Cleveland resident was attacked Monday at her home by two women who demanded her daughter’s life insurance money. The women pinned the victim to the side of her house and cut an “X” into her face.

The assault happened around 6:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of Meyer Avenue, according to a Cleveland police report.

The woman told police that she heard a knock at her door. When she answered, two women confronted her and demanded money from her daughter’s life insurance policy, the report states. When the resident told the women that she didn’t have any money, they grabbed her, put her up against an outside wall and used a box cutter to carve an “X” on her forehead.

The two women ran off to a Dodge van with two men inside that were waiting for them in the street, the report said. The van drove off an unknown direction.

The resident refused medical treatment from EMS, the report states.

According to the report, the resident told police she knows the first name of one of the attackers, but couldn’t provide any additional information.

The Cleveland Police Detective Bureau is investigating the case.
