CLEVELAND — Cleveland's FBI field office honored agents killed in the line of duty on Tuesday.

This is the ninth annual memorial service to remember agents who lost their lives in the line of duty.

A single bell tolled for each name read aloud as a picture of each agent was displayed on monitors.

Agents and guests took time to remember those agents who made the ultimate sacrifice.

There have been 79 FBI agents killed in the line of the duty in the history of the FBI.

“Everybody comes to work every day with the intent of going home but we never know how the day is going to unfold,” said Cleveland Special Agent in Charge, Eric Smith.

Tuesday’s service specifically honored Special Agent William H Christian, Jr. who was killed in 1995. Some of his family members were at the service.

The service comes just days before National Police Week.
