An inmate escaped from the City of Cleveland House of Correction Friday morning, taking off in a prisoner van containing corrections officers' weapons.
Around 10:55 a.m. corrections officers returning inmates from the court to the House Of Correction drove into a secured sally port section of the property and brought the inmates into a booking area.
However, according to Cleveland police, the officers did not secure one female inmate or the door to the sally port.

An inmate —later identified as 37-year-old Crystal Bullins — ran out, tried to climb a fence and then got into the running prisoner van. She drove through a fence and off the property, police said. Inside the van were the officers' weapons.
A short time later, Bullins was taken into custody by Highland Hills police.
Police said she was originally in court for a contempt of court warrant and petty theft.
