A man was attacked by three people and then stabbed in the back Sunday night.

Officers responded to the 3400 block of East 76th Street around 10:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of a man stabbed.

When police arrived, the victim was treated by Cleveland fire officials and EMS. He was taken to University Hospitals for further treatment of the multiple stab wounds to his back. A knife blade was still in his back when police arrived.

The victim, identified as Gerrard Jones, 22, of Cleveland, told police his girlfriend arrived at his home with a 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man. After Jones got into an argument with his girlfriend, he was attacked by all three of them. He told police the 20-year-old stabbed him in the back with a steak knife.

Detectives are still investigating the incident.
