CLEVELAND — Cleveland police have initiated a homicide investigation after a 26-year-old man who had been shot in the head in January recently died.

On Jan. 23, officers were called to the 1800 block of Colonnade Road for a report of a shooting.

A 26-year-old man was found by neighbors laying at the bottom of the stairs leading to his apartment with a gunshot wound to the head, police said.

The man was transported to University Hospitals by EMS where he was treated, released and left in the care of his mother, according to police.

Several months later, on Sept. 13, the man was transported to Euclid Hospital with difficulty breathing and was later pronounced dead, police said.

Upon his death, members of the Cleveland Homicide Unit took over the investigation.

No arrests have been made at this time, according to police.
