YPSILANTI, Mich. — A 42-year-old sought in connection with the shooting death of a man in Cleveland back in February was arrested Thursday by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.

The suspect, Mathew Miles, was taken into custody in the 1200 block of Holmes Road in Ypsilanti, which is located near Detroit, Michigan.

Cleveland Municipal Court records show Miles is charged with one count of aggravated murder, a first-degree felony.

Authorities said the shooting happened on Feb. 27 in the 6100 block of Haltnorth Walk in Cleveland. The victim, later identified as James M. Jackson, 51, was shot multiple times. Investigators linked Miles to the shooting and a warrant was issued for his arrest last month.

The U.S. Marshals tracked Miles down in Michigan after learning he fled Ohio following the shooting.

Miles is awaiting extradition back to Ohio.

"Swift work by the task forces here in Ohio and Michigan led to a quick capture of this violent fugitive on the run," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said.
