CLEVELAND — Agents of Homeland Security Investigations were involved in a shooting incident on Cleveland’s Southeast Side Wednesday morning during a human trafficking investigation, authorities confirmed.

At about 7 a.m., Cleveland police officers responded to the 11700 block of Dove Avenue in Cleveland’s Union-Miles Park neighborhood to assist Homeland Security after a use of force incident, authorities said.

According to a release from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a person fired at Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents during the execution of a federal search warrant connected to human trafficking.

Agents returned fire, according to authorities. At the scene, two people were arrested.

There were no injuries during the shooting.

Cleveland police said the Use of Force Investigation Team responded to the scene.
