CLEVELAND — There’s a new grocery story filling a void in one Cleveland neighborhood.
The brand new market opens Thursday, nearly a year after Constantino’s closed its University Circle location.
Plum Market Kitchen, known for all-natural groceries and wellness items will now occupy the 12,000-square-foot location.
“After years of not having a grocery store prior to the predecessor, once that closed it became a high priority to make sure we had a grocery store here,’ said Vice President for Campus Services for Case Western Reserve University Dick Jameison.
Constantino’s Market closed its University Circle location in April 2020 after eight years, citing a lack in the volume of customers.
"It's absolutely vital for this campus community, the circle community, this area of Cleveland to have a grocery store of this caliber,” Jameison said.
The new store will erase a food desert for University Circle residents and nearby CWRU students. Students will be able to use their meal plans at the grocery store.
“This store will have everything from intelligentsia coffee to grab and go food selection, high-quality fresh produce, groceries, anything you would look to find in your local high-quality grocery store," Jameison continued.
Plum Market Kitchen is open from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday. It’s located at Euclid Avenue and East 115th Street.
