Two protest groups have been denied parade permits for the Republican National Convention.
The City of Cleveland confirmed to newsnet5.com on Tuesday that the applications from Stand Together Against Trump and The Coalition to Stop Trump had been denied.
According to a letter from Mayor Frank Jackson's office to Stand Together Against Trump, the group's application was denied because its parade route "will unreasonably interfere with the safe expeditious movement of pedestrians an vehicular traffic, require the diversion of so great a number of City police officers to properly police the line of movement, and unreasonably interfere with the movement of police vehicles and other safety vehicles."
The letter also said their proposed parade route "does not follow the Official Parade Route in the Event Zone applicable to the date requested."
The Coalition to Stop Trump was denied for both of those reasons, as well as two others.
The mayor's office said the Coalition to Stop Trump failed to complete the Official Speakers Platform portion of the application. Use of Public Square, as requested, was also denied.
The protest groups were sent the letters on July 1. They were given three business days to appeal.
