More changes are coming to the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority bus routes.
Starting Sunday, March 11, bus routes 14 and 15 will no longer service Prospect Ave. in downtown Cleveland, according to the transit company.
RTA said the changes will provide more reliable service throughout the downtown area.
But, Cleveland city council members said it's left them feeling blindsided.
"There were discussions about some proposed route changes and possible fare increases," Councilwoman Phyllis Cleveland said.
But, Cleveland said, changes specifically to lines 14 and 15 were never discussed.
"I have never heard that proposal discussed before," the councilwoman said.
Technically, RTA is not required to discuss route changes with the city. However, Cleveland said RTA has always made room for discussion.
"Whenever there's about to be any changes, they've been pretty good about announcing those and giving the public opportunity to be heard and comment on those changes," she said. "So this was something it looks like somebody just tried to slip in on us."
RTA officials and members of council's transportation committee are set to meet about the changes on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
