The city of Seven Hills has enacted a one-year moratorium prohibiting any short-term home rentals within the city.

The emergency resolution comes just months after an out-of-control house party at an Airbnb rental in Seven Hills. The New Year's weekend party packed hundreds of intoxicated people into one residential home along Shelly Drive.

The emergency resolution, creating the moratorium, passed unanimously at the city's council meeting.

Seven Hills is far from the only local community to take this step in an attempt to regulate short-term rentals. A handful of Northeast Ohio communities are temporarily banning the home-sharing app Airbnb while they consider rules for it to operate in their communities.
