CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Metroparks is welcoming another cute addition to join the rest of the zoo’s Masai giraffe herd.

A male giraffe weighing 101 pounds and standing at about 6 feet tall was born on April 15.

Born to mom Jada and dad Bo, the calf is considered small compared to typical male giraffe calves that can weigh about 150 pounds at birth.

The calf is expected to join mom and dad and 2-year-old Zawadi.

The birth of the male calf is a first for the Metroparks Zoo since breeding male Masai giraffe, Bo, came to the zoo at the end of 2017. Bo is the zoo’s tallest giraffe at near 17 feet tall.

According to zookeepers, he's quickly become a guest favorite at the Ben Gogolick Giraffe Encounter, a place where guests can hand-feed giraffes and learn about conservation efforts.
