A local mother, heartbroken over the death of her son this weekend, is calling him a true hero.
"He was trying to stop her from driving while she was drinking," said Terri Moore, Stacey Moore's mother.
Cleveland Police said 27-year-old Stacey Moore died early Saturday morning after being pinned underneath a car.
The car was driven by Moore's friend, Lynette Lawson. Police said the two got into an argument near E. 25th St. and Payne Ave. Then, Lawson got into the car with Moore on the hood. She sped off as he clung on. Then, she went airborne at the end of E. 25th and landed on the Chester Ave. I-90 westbound exit ramp.
"The car just flew and landed right where we were coming up the exit," said Lanisha Bowen, whose car collided with Lawson's on the exit ramp. Her sister Latisha Bowen was in the passenger seat.
"My mother almost lost both of her daughters," said Latisha Bowen.
Lanisha and Latisha were not seriously injured. Moore, a father of three girls, died at the hospital.
"She didn't value my son's life," said Moore.
Moore said her son and Lawson had started hanging out more three days prior to the incident but they were not a couple. She also said Lawson was driving her 2014 Chevy Impala without permission.
Lawson is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide. Police said she was treated for injuries and alcohol impairment at the hospital.
Lawson's family said it is an unimaginable incident, and they are praying for the Moore family.
