Westlake family harassed by condiment crimes

Eggs, mustard, barbeque sauce and maple syrup.

It's not a bizarre new recipe, it's a crime.

A Westlake family's home off Hilliard Blvd. has been targeted over and over again since February, the same three vandals dousing their car and home with condiments and more.

The family got so fed up, they installed security cameras that caught the crooks in the act for the sixth time Thursday evening.

Surveillance photos show them squeezing mustard bottles over the car, hastily tossed aside when they ran.

"And last night, they tried to put salad and pizza on our car," said the homeowner, who asked not to be identified. "They were wearing ski masks and disguises and it seems to me, it's escalating."

It's been happening nearly every other week for the last few months.

Earlier, the vandalism came a crude drawing with swastikas scribbled on a piece of notebook paper.

"We're not sure if this is turning into a hate crime," she added.

And next to it, another note that simply read, 'If you stop harassing us at school, then we will stop.'

Evan Chrisman is a senior at Westlake High. He said he has no idea who's committing the condiment capers -- or why.

"I don't know who's doing it. I haven't aggravated anybody to the point where they'd come after me six times, my house, my car," Chrisman said.

Westlake Police are investigating and when the crooks are caught, the family plans to prosecute -- prank or not.

"We're tired of it. Enough is enough," she said.
