CLEVELAND — Cleveland’s Larder Delicatessen and Bakery has been announced as a semifinalist in the James Beard Foundation’s Restaurant and Chef Awards.

Jeremy Umansky, Allie La Valle-Umansky and Kenny Scott, the co-owners of Larder Delicatessen and Bakery, were nominated for Best New Restaurant in 2019. One year later, they are nominated again, but for the Best Chef award category. The restaurant is located on 1455 West 29th Street and serves a variety of foods from local ingredients.

The James Beard Award honors chefs, restaurants, journalists and authors in the food and beverage industry, and 2020 will mark its 30th anniversary.

Of the nomination, Jeremy Umansky says, “it’s absolutely incredible.” “To be up for a win like this is fulfilling.”

“Something like this is only going to push us to new heights,” Umansky said regarding what the nomination would mean for his restaurant.

He also added that a possible win “would be huge for Cleveland.”

Two Columbus restaurants are also semifinalists for the Best Chef and Outstanding Baker categories.
