LAKEWOOD, Ohio — A local organization provided free laundry services to Lakewood families.
Current Initiatives of Ohio worked to wash and dry at least 250 loads of laundry at no cost to Lakewood residents at Coin Wash Laundry on Madison Avenue on Saturday morning.
Laundry fees were paid for while volunteers helped with both laundry services and child care while the clothes were being washed.
Current Initiatives of Ohio said that their goal was to ease the expense of laundry for families who might have been forced to choose between clean clothes and paying bills.
The Laundry Project has assisted families in more than 30 cities across the country. The organization has washed more than 118,000 loads of laundry for approximately 12,000 families in nearly 460 laundry service projects nationwide.
This was the first Laundry Project held in Lakewood. The program has been held in other locations around Northeast Ohio, including Barberton, Canton, and Akron.
