JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 30-year-old man has died after being struck by a car in Ashland County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Authorities say Brett Michael Lycans, of West Salem, was walking in the left southbound lane of U.S. Route 42 when he was hit by a 2013 Hyundai Velostar. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The car's driver, a 20-year-old man, wasn't injured.

Troopers say the crash remains under investigation, but the car's driver isn't considered at fault.

"Impairment of the pedestrian is believed to be a possible factor," authorities said.
