Three people are facing charges after police say they gave alcohol to a puppy and then posted pictures of the intoxicated puppy on Facebook.

The Ashtabula County dog warden contacted police after learning about the incident.

Officers responded to the owner's W. 53 Street home on Nov. 26, where they were told the puppy was given kahlua and screwdrivers by the resident's boyfriend.

Animal control confiscated the puppy and took it to Animal Protective League on Green Rd. in Kingsville.

Farrell Weger, Jennifer Schwab and Tanna Howser are charged with cruelty to companion animals. They are due in court on Dec. 21.

Ashtabula Animal Control Officer Derrell McCaleb said the three people involved showed no remorse when "Lilybug" was taken from the home.

If convicted animal control told News 5 they could receive from 6 months to one year in jail.

McCaleb said Lilybug will not be returned to Schwab, the dog will be taken by the City of Ashtabula and put up for adoption at the Ashtabula APL in the coming weeks.
