Authorities are investigating a fatal ATV crash that killed a seven-year-old Saturday in Wayne Township.
According to The Ohio State Highway Patrol Ashtrabula Post, the crash occurred north of U.S. 322 on Gane Road in Ashtabula County. The crash was reported to authorities at 4:32 p.m.
Authorities report that Ronald Atwater III, 18, of Cleveland was driving the Honda ATV with the seven-year-old juvenile on the back when the ATV traveled left of center and struck a metal culvert.
Atwater was transported by EMS to Andover Heath Center and then later life flighted to Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown with non-life threatening injuries.
The seven-year-old was transported to Andover Heath Center and pronounced deceased.
Neither occupants were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
OSHP was assisted by Ashtabula County Sheriff's office, Wayne Township Fire Department and EMS and Andover Fire and EMS on scene.
OSHP will be handling the investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
