BAY VILLAGE, Ohio — Police in Bay Village can now pull you over and write you a ticket for texting while driving even if you’re not committing any other traffic violation, following an ordinance change by city council last week.
On March 4, council members voted to amend the previous city ordinance regarding texting and driving, according to the Bay Village Police Department.
The new change makes texting and driving a primary offense — meaning if you’re spotted texting, police can specifically pull you over for it, authorities said.
A texting while driving citation is classified as a minor misdemeanor.
