The City of Cleveland lifted a boil advisory for several southeast suburbs  Monday morning.

Among the affected areas are: Portions of Moreland Hills, Woodmere, Orange, Highland Hills, Warrensville Heights, North Randall, Beachwood, Bedford Heights, Solon and Bentleyville.

The seven impacted communities are within Northfield Road to the west, Chagrin Boulevard to the north, the Chagrin river to the east and Aurora and Solon Road to the south.

Officials are advising that anyone in those communities boil water for one to three minutes before using it for drinking, cooking, ice making, brushing teeth or washing dishes.

The water contamination stems from a malfunction at the Green Road storage tank, according to a flyer given out during a press release. Officials said consumers may note a strong chlorine smell from their water.

John Goersmeyer, an official with the water department, said the advisory was a precautionary measure due to high levels of chlorine in the storage tank. He said there has been no word of discoloration or any complaints from customers about their water.

When pressed, Goersmeyer said he would possibly drink water from the tap, depending on the smell.

"It's a precautionary thing," Goersmeyer said. "That's why were asking people to boil it."
