CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — A man who was to be questioned about the death of a Cleveland Heights woman in January is dead, according to the Cleveland Heights Police Department.
Detectives wanted to speak to Oscar Allen Jr. about the suspicious death of his girlfriend, 33-year-old Crystal Smith.
Smith’s children found her unresponsive in her apartment in the 2500 block of Noble Road on Jan. 22.

Police received a tip that Allen was staying in a vacant apartment in Richmond Heights.
When they located the apartment, police found Allen with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Allen was transported to a local hospital where he later died, according to police.
In addition to being wanted for questioning in the death of Smith, Allen also had warrants for auto theft and a probation violation.
The incident is currently under investigation.
