BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, Ohio — The Brooklyn Heights Fire Department went above and beyond for the 10-year-old girl who was struck by a car while riding her bike Saturday.

The incident happened in the 200 block of East Schaaf Road around 11:45 a.m.

According to police, a medium to dark gray vehicle—possibly a Toyota—hit the 10-year-old girl and then fled the scene.

The girl had a few minor injuries, none too serious, according to authorities.

Although a little shaken up, the girl was mostly upset about her bike being destroyed, which was brand new.

After seeing the girl so upset, the Brooklyn Heights Fire Department came together and within two hours, delivered a new bike and helmet to the 10 year old.

The firemen took pictures as they delivered the bike to the girl, who looked very excited.

Police are still looking for the driver of the vehicle that hit the girl and fled.
