Cirque Du Soleil in Cleveland boycotting NC law

and last updated
After they canceled shows this week in North Carolina in opposition to a state law dictating where transgendered people can use the bathroom, Canadian circus company Cirque Du Soleil is in Cleveland a few days earlier than scheduled.

That means that more than 100 performers and behind-the-scenes crews are spending an extra week on hotel rooms, dining and entertainment, taking a week off when they would have otherwise been performing for audiences in Greensboro, NC.

"We've been to Cavs games, Indians game, we went to the orchestra last night, eating our way around the city, it's really really a great spot for us to have some time off,” Cirque Du Soleil publicist Jessica Leboeuf said.

Tickets for their Cleveland shows are on sale now. “Ovo” runs from April 27 through May 1 at Cleveland State University’s Wolstein Center.
