CLEVELAND — It's been three months since eviction cases have been heard inside Cleveland's Housing Court.
But, according to an order filed online, eviction cases will resume on Monday.
The order, filed on June 4 and signed by Judge Mona Scott, said the court will accept 125 eviction cases per day. Anything filed beyond the limit will be held for filing on the next business day.
The document also said landlords, or the firm representing them, may not file more than 25 eviction cases per day with no more than five cases "based upon grounds other than nonpayment."
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, Cleveland's Housing Court will conduct hearings virtually when it's possible. All in-person cases will be scheduled for Tuesdays and Fridays.
According to the docket, more than 50 cases are scheduled for Tuesday, June 16.
