The body of a man who fell off a cliff while being chased by police Saturday was recovered Sunday in Rocky River.
Police say the body recovered was that of 43-year-old Terrence Hopkins.
According to Cleveland Metroparks officials, Hopkins was being chased by Rocky River police around 9:45 p.m. Saturday when he fell off a cliff in the area of 1500 Scenic Park.
An officer spotted Hopkins — who was wanted on an outstanding warrant — earlier that night in a car parked outside of an apartment complex near the corner of Wooster Road and Malvern Road.
When the officer approached him, authorities say he fled on foot and a chase ensued.
It ended when Hopkins fell off a cliff above Rocky River.
The Cleveland Metroparks dive team and the U.S. Coast Guard searched for the man in the water Saturday night but as of 2 a.m., they were unable to find him.
The search was called off and resumed Sunday morning around 8 a.m
Hopkins' body was found around 2 p.m.
Police have blocked off entrance in the Rocky River Reservation to Eerald Necklace Marina as they are expected to resume search for a wanted man sometime this morning. @wews pic.twitter.com/VZCH5CPO55
