BEDFORD, Ohio — A driver who led Bedford police on a chase in a stolen vehicle and fled on foot after crashing the vehicle on I-480 has been arrested Monday morning.
The driver, identified as an 18-year-old Maple Heights resident, allegedly fled from Bedford police during an attempted traffic stop just after 1:00 a.m. Monday.
The driver of the vehicle, which was reported stolen out of Shaker Heights, fled into Garfield Heights where it went onto I-480 eastbound going in the wrong direction, according to the report.
Officers terminated the chase and shortly after, the driver crashed into another vehicle on the I-480 bridge.
The driver fled on foot and after a brief foot pursuit, he was arrested and taken into custody. The backseat passenger was also taken into custody without incident.
The driver is expected to be charged with failure to comply with a police order, driving with a suspended license and receiving stolen property, according to the report.
