EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio — Hours after an East Cleveland police pursuit ended in a fatal crash, the department was involved in another pursuit Saturday evening.

Around 5:21 p.m., East Cleveland police officers initiated a traffic stop on a red minivan for heavy tinted windows and no license plate, police said.

The vehicle stopped at first but then pulled off as officers approached, according to police.

Officers initiated a pursuit with the minivan which led down Coit Road to East 131st Street. The vehicle attempted to make a turn and struck a utility pole, police said.

Three individuals fled the vehicle on foot and after a pursuit were all taken into custody, according to police.

No one was injured in the pursuit Saturday evening.

The pursuit came just hours after one person was killed in a car crash following another pursuit with East Cleveland police early Saturday morning.
