CLEVELAND — The East Cleveland Police Department was involved in a pursuit Monday morning that continued through North Olmsted and ended in a crash in downtown Cleveland.
Around 11:27 a.m., officers were called to investigate a "suspicious auto" which they later learned was stolen.
At some point during the investigation, the vehicle fled and a pursuit was initiated.
Police said the vehicle drove to North Olmsted and circled back towards downtown Cleveland, attempting to strike police units at Eddie Road and Taft Avenue, and then again at Deadman's Curve.
The vehicle then struck flower planters near the IMG building on East 9th Street and became disabled, according to police.
Police said a K-9 officer was deployed and detained the male driver of the vehicle until officers arrived to take him into custody. The man was treated for bite wounds from the K-9 officer, police said.
Two officers sustained minor injuries during a foot pursuit but were treated and released, according to police.
The East Cleveland Police Department said it is waiting on body-cam video to be uploaded by the officers involved in the incident.
