MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — The family of fallen Marine will hold their 14th annual fundraising event in his honor.
Lance Corporal Andy Nowacki died during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005. Before his death, Nowacki was a police officer in Grand River.
The 14th Annual Heroes for Andy Gala takes place on Saturday at Landerhaven in Mayfield Heights. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
The gala raises money for the Andy Nowacki Memorial Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to people going into public safety or nursing fields.
