Cleveland police are investigating a New Year’s Day stabbing as the first homicide of 2016.

Marc Weems, 63, identified by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office, was stabbed to death at a home in the 13000 block of Edmonton Ave. Friday just before noon, police said.

Police say 56-year-old Charnetta McCray was arrested in connection with this fatal stabbing. McCray has been charged with aggravated murder, according to court documents.

Police said Weems and McCray were involved in an argument that resulted in a physical altercation.

McCray stabbed Weems in the chest, killing him during the domestic altercation, police said.

Police are investigating.
