New charges for suspects in death of 9 YO girl

More charges have been filed against the three adult suspects arrested in connection with the death of Saniyah Nicholson, 9, of Maple Heights. The state also announced it intends to file a motion to charge the three juveniles in the case as adults.

Devontae Nettles, 19, Ce'Matizea Andrews, 19, and Aaron George, 18, are all being charged with aggravated murder, according to the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. On June 20, the trio and a juvenile were in a black car that was involved in a shootout on Lee Road near Cloverside Avenue, police say. The shootout occurred between those in the vehicle and two juveniles on the sidewalk, according to the county prosecutors, according to police.

Police said Nicholson was sitting in her mother's car with her sister when she was caught in the crossfire between the two groups.

According to court documents, a judge set bond for Nettles at $2 million. Andrews is being held at a $5 million bond. According to US Marshals, he was taken into custody on June 22. George was arrested near the 7400 block of Portage Road in Solon, according to US Marshals.

The three adult suspects each face nine charges: aggravated murder, two counts of attempted murder, discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises, two counts of felonious assault, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and having weapons under disability.

The three juveniles in the case, who are not being named because they are minors, face ten charges: aggravated murder, murder, two counts of attempted murder, discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises, three counts of felonious assault, carrying a concealed weapon and criminal damaging or endangering.

The state intends on transferring the juvenile's cases to adult court.

Nettles, Andrews and George are scheduled to be arraigned on July 5.
