CLEVELAND — A North Ridgeville couple is facing felony charges for the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in the mid-2000s.
David A. Walker, 46, and his wife, Anna Walker, 39, are accused of assaulting the teen multiple times between 2004 and 2006 while David worked as a youth pastor at Church Alive International in Cleveland and also as a youth pastor at The Dwelling Place Family Worship Center in North Olmsted, according to North Olmsted police, and court records.
Additionally, authorities say he also worked as a coach and teacher at Cleveland Christian Academy, which has since closed.
David A. Walker is charged with seven counts of sexual battery, all third-degree felonies, and sexual imposition, a third-degree misdemeanor, Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas records state.
Anna Walker is charged with two counts of sexual battery, both third-degree felonies, according to court records.
The indictments state that the couple first allegedly assaulted the girl on her 14th birthday. Records state that the first assault occurred in 2004 and the last assault was a day before the girl’s 16th birthday in 2006.
Authorities said that the teen was a parishioner of both churches as well as a member of their respective youth groups.
The indictments are the culmination of a year-long investigation into the matter by the North Olmsted and North Ridgeville police departments.
Following their indictment and arrests, the couple was released on a combined personal bond of $15,000. David A. Walker has been ordered to submit a DNA sample and take an AIDS test.
A pre-trial conference has been set for the couple on Jan. 25 at the Justice Center in Cleveland.
