Clerks at a Cleveland gas station are issuing a warning before your next fill up after they witnessed two motor vehicle thefts in the same afternoon.
The first happened around 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the BP station at 4006 Lee Road near Harvard Road. Two men trying to sell an ATV they listen on Craigslist had it stolen instead, according to a police incident report.
The would-be buyer handed over $1,800 before taking off, a clerk told News 5. The sellers quickly realized the money was counterfeit. They pursued him, but he got away.
Then after 5:00 p.m. another man said his Mercedes was stolen at the gas pump. Clerks said he left it running while he walked inside to pay, but it was gone when he went back outside.
"I tell ‘em when I see them doing that to turn around and got turn off their car,” store clerk Rick Hagood said. "Some of them be too big and bold.”
