PARMA, Ohio — Parma City Council voted in favor of residents keeping their holiday lights up until the end of Feb. to show support for first responders.
Councilman Roy Jech said he hopes to see the holiday spirit continue during the cold and challenging months ahead.
"At a time when people are encouraged to stay distant from others, Christmas lights and decorations can create a sense of community among neighbors and friends, as well as help bolster people’s moods," Jech said.
Parma is the first Northeast Ohio city to pass a measure to keep holiday lights up for this winter.
