The Brooklyn Police Department is investigating possible inappropriate conduct between a Brooklyn High School employee and Brooklyn students.

Police say they were made aware of the possible inappropriate conduct on Tuesday.

Police are investigating to determine whether "the allegations rise to the level of criminal conduct."

The teacher is currently on administrative leave.

The superintendent issued the following statement in response to the allegations:

On Monday, February 13th, an anonymous source brought a concern to the District’s attention alleging that a BHS teacher may have engaged in misconduct.  In response, District administration immediately initiated an investigation into the allegations, speaking with various parties who may have information related to the underlying allegations.  Consistent with prior situations of potential misconduct, the District placed the teacher involved here on administrative leave to ensure a full and fair investigation is completed.  At this point in time, the District’s investigation is ongoing and, therefore, further comments would be inappropriate.
In addition, the Brooklyn Police Department is aware of the allegations and information regarding their separate investigation should be obtained from them.

No names are being released at this time.
