Police investigate shots fired during Solon Fourth of July fireworks celebration

Amidst the loud bangs of the fireworks finale on the Fourth of July in Solon, screams were heard as spectators panicked after gunshots rang out.

Solon Police responded to the reports of shots fired just before 10:30 p.m. Officers say someone shot a handgun twice behind a log cabin, but were unable to find victims or witnesses who could describe the shooter. Solon Police confirmed shots were fired after reviewing videos from private citizens and county surveillance cameras. Orange Village Police metal detectors were also used to find two shell casings in the ground.

The investigation has been turned over to the detective bureau, who will continue to look at evidence.
